Time: 6:00pm (Open to Public)
Guest Speaker: Kate Redmond from Riveredge Nature Center
Topic: Insects and Other Creepy Crawlers
“The BugLady” aka Kate Redmond is an Environmental Educator who has been having “close encounters” with insects all her life. She has taught at Lac Lawrann Conservancy in West Bend and Riveredge Nature Center near Newburg, wrote the on-line field guide to the Mequon Nature Preserve, and has spoken at area nature centers, schools, senior facilities, and garden clubs. At Riveredge, she has had the excellent assignment of being the “sturgeon paparazza” at their annual sturgeon release. She is a founding board member of the Board of the Friends of the Cedarburg Bog, is an honorary Board member of the Lake Michigan Bird Observatory, and she leads field trips in the Bog. She’s happiest when she’s taking pictures, preferably in a wetland or prairie, preferably of a dragonfly. Her 50 year addiction to photography is (almost) her only vice.
The BugLady is a Wisconsin native, presently living in Sheboygan County. Her Mission Statement is “Less stepping on bugs.”
